Greyhound racing in Uruguay takes place on several straight tracks throughout the country. The races are generally held several times a month on the weekends.¹

There are both imported and greyhounds bred in Uruguay participating in races. For example, greyhounds are sometimes bred in Argentina or Brazil and then are brought to Uruguay to race.² There are five greyhound breeding kennels in Uruguay listed on greyhound-data.com, an online database maintained by dog racing gamblers.³

We found no evidence of any rules or regulations for greyhound racing.

Wagering on greyhound races appears to be legal in Uruguay. According to a 2011 news article, individuals have bet as much as $500 on a race at Melo, Cerro Largo, Uruguay.⁴
