Denmark is a member of the Continental Greyhound Racing Confederation and has two greyhound racing tracks. The Kallerupbanen track was built in 1968 and is the oldest dog racing track in Denmark.1 Races take place from April to October each year.2 In 2013 there were 11 races and 72 greyhounds registered as participants.3 The other Danish track is the Midtjysk Greyhound Stadium, which is home to the Gudenådalens Greyhound Klub (Club).4 The greyhounds are not housed at the track, but instead are brought to the sites by their owners to race.
Danish Greyhounds (DHV) is the organization in charge of regulating greyhound racing clubs in Demark. Its regulations include requirements for licensing, racing officials and prohibitions on doping.5 Additionally, since it is a member of the CGRC, Denmark is required to abide by the CGRC Racing Rules for any CGRC competitions held in the country.
While there are several greyhound breeders based in Demark, at least some racing participants appear to be Swedish bred greyhounds.6
Wagering on greyhound races is legal in Denmark under the Gaming Act.7
