Rhode Island's only dog track, Lincoln Park, is closed and greyhound racing is illegal in the state.

Under the weight of $10 million in annual subsidy payments to greyhound breeders, Lincoln Park suspended live racing on August 8, 2009.¹ Working with GREY2K USA and RI Defenders of Animals, the track then supported HB 8070, a bill to prohibit the activity altogether. On May 14, 2010, Governor Don Carcieri signed a prohibition into law.
