All the Colorado dog tracks are closed and greyhound racing is illegal in the state.

At one point there were five tracks throughout the state: Mile High Kennel Club in Denver, Pueblo Greyhound Park in Commerce City, Cloverleaf Kennel Club in Loveland, Rocky Mountain Greyhound Park in Colorado Springs and Interstate Kennel Club in Byers.1 By 2008, all had closed for live racing.2 In May 2013, GREY2K USA led a coalition of animal groups to pass a prohibition on dog racing, which was signed into law by Governor John Hickenlooper on March 10, 2014.3

Championed by House Majority Leader Monica Duran and House Minority Leader Mike Lynch, HB 1041 was filed in 2023 to also outlaw simulcast wagering on greyhounds in Colorado.4 The prohibition was signed into law on June 2, 2023 by Governor Jared Polis.
